UFI’s Michael Pedraza Featured in PTI Webinar Series on Advancing Post- Tensioned Design

Our very own Michael Pedraza, PE, a proud member of Post-Tensioning Institute (PTI) DC-25 Committee, recently participated in a four-part webinar series focused on the advantages of post-tensioned parking structures — underscoring why this construction method is popular among developers, engineers, and building owners.

The webinar emphasizes how post-tensioned construction delivers long-term value through reduced maintenance needs, improved aesthetics, and enhanced operational efficiency.

In the first episode of the series, the committee explored how post-tensioned designs deliver seamless adaptability to architectural visions, allowing flexible layouts and long, unobstructed spans. Post-tension allows for thinner slabs and reduced structural depths, which translates into more efficient use of space and cost savings over conventional reinforced concrete structures.

The committee also highlighted how post-tensioned parking decks can be a "game-changer" for owners, developers, architects, engineers, and facility operators — combining efficiency, durability, design flexibility, and long-term value. These attributes make the system especially attractive for mixed-use developments where parking must integrate seamlessly with other building functions.
