Carillion Roanoke Memorial & Expansion
Carilion Memorial Hospital consisted of 11 story hospital facility located in Roanoke, VA. Careful coordination was required between UFI, Skanska, and the Owner to allow unhindered access to existing facilities including emergency traffic and food service deliveries. The project was successfully completed on time and within budget. UFI provided total concrete frame services for the project. Over 9,200 cyds of concrete were poured and placed and over 800 tons of reinforcing steel were installed.
In November of 2004, UFI executed a contract with Skanska USA to perform work on the hospital expansion. The expansion required the addition of 5 floors (112,000 sf) over the existing 10 stories South Tower structure and a new 6 story (138,000 sf) EDOR tower to be constructed simultaneously. A 6 story (16,000 sf) Front Expansion with an architectural beam structure began upon completion of the Towers. UFI performed total concrete frame services for the project. In all, UFI poured over 14,700 cy of concrete and placed over 1,250 tons of reinforcing steel over the course of the expansion.
